Keeping your Blog Updated with Fresh and Unique Content
Constantly having to update your blog can seem like a hassle at times. I will admit there have been large gaps of weeks/months where I haven’t even attempted to post on my blogs. I can attribute the lack of posts for something – maybe schoolwork was more important at the time, something else going on, but posting just comes as part of being a blogger.
If you’re really interested in making money online with blogging and not ending up as another percentage who doesn’t make it big, learning this lesson early will help a lot. No matter how bad you don’t want to, some days you really need to sit down and force yourself to blog.
It’s not all an issue – Blogging can be Fun!
This isn’t always the case, I don’t want to sound like I’m sitting here yelling at bloggers to stop being lazy. If you are running a blog where you only want to update bi-weekly or 3 times a week, there’s nothing wrong with that. Just be sure to stick by it, so your readers know what’s coming.
The probloggers – the one’s who make blogging their full-time career – are often posting at least once a day to their blogs. This is because their blog is like a business, and yours can be too. The more time and effort you put into creating worthy content, the higher your blog will climb through the ranks and the more backlinks you’ll gain.
Becoming a full-time blogger is no easy decision. You really need to address yourself and ask “is this what I want to do with my life?”. There are a million+1 ways to make money online, no need to worry. Being a blogger you are your own boss, but that means being strict on yourself sometimes when it comes to writing posts and marketing.
How to Avoid the Slumps
The best way to avoid slumps of missing blog posts would be to keep drafts saved! I have started to save at least 2-3 articles in my drafts folder at all times. This allows me to update my blog on-the-fly, just in case I don’t have enough time to sit down and write out a post.
The other benefit of writing drafts ahead of time is that you can schedule them to post automatically to your blog. This means if you won’t be able to log into your blog for a couple of days, set a few posts to go up live during those days and they’ll appear at the exact time of posting – it’ll look like you just wrote it then and there!
Whatever you do, Just Keep with it
I can’t say how many people have hit huge slumps in their blogs, only to say “this isn’t working” and give up. This is the worst attitude to have, and I’ve outlined this in a similar post. Just keep with your blogging habits, and over time you’ll grow and do just fine.
