My Review of StumbleUpon’s New URL Shortener Su.pr

Su.pr Logo After spending a lot of time following StumbleUpon on Twitter, I finally found a beta keycode to enter and register to their new URL shortener.

Su.pr is a new beta site started by StumbleUpon that allows you to shorten URL’s with advanced stumbleupon features added to the post. Although it is in private beta, StumbleUpon is releasing key codes on their Twitter page. If you follow them and spend some time checking up, they post new codes every once in a while to join. Lucky for me, I ended up with one and signed up immediately! So far the program looks awesome, although I haven’t had a lot of time to work with it.

The control panel seems very straightforward as well. You can share your links on Twitter and Facebook, and also add a small message with your shortened URL. There are also live tracking from your links which include how many clicks, stumbles, and followers through the links. This is very similar to the URL shortening service bit.ly, which has gained tremendous fame through Twitter.

Along with this, It seems as though there is also a Wordpress plug-in for Su.pr that can tie into the Su.pr API. I haven’t messed around with this much yet, but it appears that when you register for an account you are given an API key, which you tie into any work you do with the Su.pr API.

So what is there for the future of this cool URL shortening service? Only time will tell, but I will say that if you want to try this out yourself you’ll have to follow along with StumbleUpon’s Twitter Account and pick up an invite key code yourself!
