Brand New CMS System Based Entirely in Flash – Meet FlashMoto
After spending some time on the web today researching a few web design tpics, I ran into a very peculiar concept: a CMS system based entirely in Flash. Is it possible? Oh, it’s very possible, and it’s in active beta as you read this!
FlashMoto is a groundbreaking script based on Adobe’s ever popular Flash. As more and more websites turn to Flash for enhanced UI, visual effects, and heightened creativity, there have not been many frameworks for developers to work with and base their applications around Flash. However, although it may seem like a real hassle, the development team with FlashMoto really did a great job making FlashMoto not only easy to understand, but also easy to use and manipulate.
The software behaves very similar to a regular CMS where it has an administrative backend that you can log into and change content, color, design, and many other features. However, the layout of the administrator panel is more like an artboard: move things out of the way, re-color, and redesign just by dragging and dropping. To help understand a bit how FlashMoto works, the designers have created an introductory video to help newcomers.

FlashMoto hasn’t been in the news very much, but I think that as the site opens for beta word of mouth will spread amongst the design and development community. Fresh blood on the market trying something new and innovative… it will be interesting to see where this idea goes. Who knows, within months there could be major companies attaching small tags at the bottom of their footers: “Powered by FlashMoto”.
